Clients Embracing Making Tax Digital: A Shift from Compliance to Confidence.

By Adrian Bryan, AB Accountancy

This week I had the pleasure of being guest speaker at the Wrexham 360 networking event with the brief of covering the topic of Making Tax Digital. The questions and engagement I received from the floor highlighted to me how the message we are trying to get across at AB Accountancy is hitting home. Over the past few months, we’ve led a real change in how clients approach Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTDIT) What once felt like a daunting deadline is now becoming an opportunity to take control, get organised, and stay ahead.

My firsts thoughts on reading HMRC’s MTDIT proposals some years ago now was that clients would respond with “well that sounds like a lot more work but what am I getting for it?” That is potentially a good point which is why we are using the digitalisation and increased in touch points (in touch points is our internal wording for how often we deal with a client) to service the client with greater information on their forecast tax position and their business numbers. Services that we have long offered to Limited companies with many in touch points a year is now easily achievable for self employed clients. We know that the power in understanding your numbers far outweighs the additional administration and cost being put onto you by Making Tax Digital.

It doesn’t just have to be about ticking HMRC’s boxes, it’s about creating habits that build better businesses.

At AB Accountancy, we’ve focused on making the MTD transition as smooth and stress-free as possible. Whether it’s choosing the right software, digitising records, or accessing greater information. For us it isn’t making tax digital – we’re making tax make sense.

If you’re still unsure about where to start with MTD, now is the perfect time to get ready.
